Why Do We Hide From Thee?

Oh LORD, why do we hide from Thee
Whilst the birds fly free
And the deer across the fields leap?
The fall of Adam opened the whole world to darkness;
Making it a shadow of its former glory
Dimmed when sin was allowed
And separated us from You…
With a veil covering Your Face from us…

If we only knew the truth
It would set us free….
If we only knew Your Love…
It would set us free…
If we only allowed Your Son into our hearts…
It would set us free…

Once upon a time the beasts walked alongside Adam unafraid
Once upon a time the birds stood on his shoulders and sang sweet  songs
Where the lamb slept next to the lion by a cool stream
And where God walked with Adam in The Garden….
When everything abided in God’s perfect wisdom, peace and love
Oh but now LORD look how far man has fallen
All the long day, he toils for nothing
Nothing worthwhile in this world that’s lasting

If we only knew the truth
It would set us free….
If we only knew Your Love…
It would set us free…
If we only allowed Your Son into our hearts…
It would set us free…

Oh LORD, why do we hide from Thee
Whilst the birds fly free
And the deer across the fields leap?
Why do we turn from Your Voice
That holds Wisdom
And turn our faces from Your Goodness?
Why do we think we know it all
and exalt ourselves as kings and gods?

If we only knew the truth
It would set us free….
If we only knew Your Love…
It would set us free…
If we only allowed Your Son into our hearts…
It would set us free…

If only we only trusted You
Placing our faith and confidence in You…
If only we really knew Your Love ….
Then there would be:
No veil 
No death
No fear 
No hate
No pride 
No greed
No shame
No hiding
No delusion that could creep 
Into our hearts and minds
Oh LORD, help us turn away
From those delusions that keep us captive—
A prisoner of the enemy! 
Oh let us cease hiding from Thee!

If we only knew the truth
It would set us free….
If we only knew Your Love…
It would set us free…
If we only allowed Your Son into our hearts…
It would set us free…

Oh LORD we thank You for this:
That You have made a way through Your Son
So we can abide in You—
Abide in Your Complete Love
And no longer hide from Thee
If we only knew our freedom lies in You
It would set us free…

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
